Printing!

Today we made our own prints! We used polystyrene sheets to draw and then carve a simple picture. We used pencils to carve the picture out of the polystyrene sheet.

After that, we painted then carefully. We didn't want too much paint filling up the parts we had carved! 

Tasty toast!

For English we are going to be writing instructions on how to make toast. Today we got to eat some scrumptious toast to help us build vocabulary for our instructions! We ate the toast and then discussed what the toast smelled like, tasted like, looked like and felt like.

We then created a mind map of vocabulary ready for writing instructions tomorrow!

Making toast!

WALT: Give oral instructions.

Today we had to give Miss Groves instructions on how to make jam on toast. She took the instructions we gave her very literally, so we had to give her very clear instructions. We also used adverbs to describe how she should complete an instruction.

Here is some of the vocabulary we generated:

Put,  first,  slices,  bread,  carefully,   push the lever,  knife,   strawberry jam,   slot,   next,   bread,   toast,   evenly,  scrumptious,  enjoy

After, we worked in groups to verbally generate instructions for making jam on toast.

Repeating patterns in art!

Our art unit this term is printing! To get us ready we've been experimenting today with creating different patterns. First we started with only 2 colours, then we moved onto 3 colours to create a repeating pattern.

After, we were given time to create our own pattern using as many cubes and colours as we liked!

Speaking and Listening

Today in English we completed a speaking and listening activity.

We worked in partners and talked for 2 minutes each about our Christmas holidays!

We had to listen carefully as we then hot seated each other asking questions about their partner's Christmas!

Orienteering!

For our P.E. lessons we are going to be learning how to do orienteering.

For our first lesson today, we had a map of the playground and had to use it to find cones hidden. We used our maps carefully to find where Miss Groves had hidden the cones!

Printing

In art we're learning about printing. Today we experimented with sponges and paint.

We learnt about how to print using sponges and experimented with different techniques.
