More About Jez Alborough

This term we have been learning about a book called "Where's My Teddy?" by Jez Alborough. We found some videos of him reading some of his other stories and showing you how he draws his characters on Youtube.

The Story Sack

Mrs Lilley gave us a Story Sack. The Story Sack gives us ideas for the stories that we are reading. The story we are reading at the moment is "Where's My teddy?" by Jez Alborough. The main characters are Eddy and the Bear. In our story sack we have Puppets, Little Bear and Big Bear, Books and Masks.

We are looking forward to exploring our Story Sack.

You can listen to and watch the story of Where's my Teddy on Youtube.

Subtracting in Maths

This week in Maths we have been doing Subtracting. Subtracting means taking away. When you subtract, the answer gets smaller. I have been subtracting big numbers with Tens and Units like:

 43 - 20 = 23.

 68 - 20 = 48.

Maths is fun because it helps you to learn about numbers, and counting, which helps you to be clever.

What we have been doing in school this week

This week at School we have been doing lots of things. We did some writing in the writing grotto. We have been setting the story in the woods and we have been reading the story with our story sack. We have been drawing Eddy and his teddy.

Some of the class have been using the new school Ipads. They draw with them and play learning games on them.

In maths we have been counting backwards from any number. My favourite number to count back from is 72.

In PE with are doing gymnastics this term.

In science with Ms Fenelon, we have been talking about materials. Man-made means that materials are made from a factory, and natural means you can just find them anywhere.

My favourite thing that we have done this week has been writing and learning about "Where's My Teddy". When we set the story in the woods I liked it because I liked the sound of the birds tweeting with joy.

My favourite subjects are science and literacy.

PE & Street Dance

In our PE lessons with Mr Bull we are learning about Gymnastics. We needed to hold our legs up with out arms, and then put our legs and heads back and forward, and side to side. When the ball touches the floor you need to sit down. If the ball doesn't you have to stand up.The ball is orange and quite little.

I like our PE Lessons with Mr Bull. Tonight I am starting Street Dance at After School Club. Outside school I do dancing. My favourite move is kick cross taps. We will be doing Street Dance in the hall. I am really looking forward to our Street Dance Classes.

Making the bear

This afternoon we have been learning about 'Where's my Teddy' and we are making a huge grizzly bear. He is feeling surprised, shocked, perplexed and amazed when he sees the little boy called Eddy!

Our Attendance Certificates

Today we took a picture of us with our Attendance Certificates. Today in assembly Miss Worsley handed them out. There were fourteen children in our class who got a certificate, that's a lot of us! There were thirty nine certificates given out in the whole school. We got certificates for being at school every day for the whole term. It was good because we like being at school.

Where's My Teddy?

We have been learning about a book called "Where's my Teddy?". The author is Jez Alborough. The book is about a little boy who has lost his teddy, and he is lost in the woods. He meets a gigantic teddy bear and he says "you're too big to fit in my bed". That was my favourite bit of the book. The story was excellent. We are still reading the story, so I can't wait to read some more and find out what happens next.
