Brazilian cooking

On Wednesday afternoon we made some delicious Brazilian lemon and  lime chicken.

Here are the ingredients:

Diced chicken
The juice of 2 lemons
The juice of 2 limes
1 red pepper
Some fresh sweetcorn.

We put the chicken into the wok and made sure that it was cooked! We then added the rest of the ingredients and let it simmer until piping hot!

We met up with Nursery and Reception who had made beans and rice and year 5 and 6 who had made some biscuits and fudge! All of the recipes were traditional Brazilian recipes.

It was delicious!

Brazilian Dancing!

On WEdnesday we were very lucky as Katie came to teach us some Brazilian Carnival dancing!
We dressed up with masks and feathers and boogied to samba music!

Rio Olympics comes to Great Gaddesden!

On Monday year 1 and 2 worked with Nursery and Reception for Olympics! We spilt into groups called : France, Brazil, China and Ghana.

We completed lots of different activities including the bean bag challenge, Hoop toss, discus and javelin. We then completed flat running races! It was terrific!

Mountfitchet Castle

Last week we went to visit Mountfitchet Castle. We learnt about life in the castle, what they would have eaten, what weapons they would have used in battle and what they would have done to punish people if they broke the law! We had a fantastic time!

Here is the front of the castle. If you look closely you can see someone has had their head put on a spike for breaking the law!

We even put Miss Groves in stocks!

An archer would practise every day for several hours at the Castle!

People were put in stocks to show the rest of the village that they had broken the law. People would throw rotten food at them!

We spent some time in jail while we were there!

We did a spot of jousting at the castle! Jousting was done on horses and was very popular entertainment!

We will have lots of our work on Castles out during Open Afternoon!
