Measuring problems

Today we were solving a range of problems based on measures. Some of us were outside throwing beanbags and measuring how far we threw it using non-standard units of measure.

Others of us were inside problem solving using coins and investigating problems about days of the week!

Capacity relay and Temperature measuring

Today we had a capacity relay, we had to race to fill up our jug to a given measurement and then, quickly, do another until our entire sheet was completed!

We also had a temperature quest - Find the hottest place in the school!

Racing cars measurements!

Measuring monsters

Yesterday we were measuring height and length. We made some monsters, then we measured the height, width and length of their body, eye, leg and foot. We used rulers to help us measure in centimetres.

Some of us focused on measuring in length, we created a ramp and rolled different cars down it, we use tape measures to measure the distance they rolled.

In year 2 we have started to measure in half centimetres and millimetres using rulers, yesterday we looked at a range of scales and completed the missing numbers!

Even more measuring!

Today we were learning all about meters! We went on a meter hunt, finding things that we taller and shorter then a meter!

Measures

In maths we have been learning about measures.

We went outside and found natural resources to support our learning. We then ordered the objects from longest to shortest.
